A Brief Introduction

I am not a scriptorian. I wanted to throw that out there before anyone gets excited that they might be getting a course on the scriptures through this blog. I am not a professor of religion or a clergyman. I am merely a woman, a wife, and a mother, striving to draw closer to God daily through fervent study of His sacred scripture. I LOVE the scriptures. Every day, as I read them, I can feel my imperfect soul become a little more godlike. I can feel them cleansing and uplifting my heart and mind. I receive clarity on my life and worries, pains, or burdens start to lessen. I gain a greater capacity to fight my weaknesses and those things that tempt me and put my life and my duties in the proper perspective. An most of all, I feel a closeness to my Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, that cannot attain otherwise. My heart expands and love flows out to my family, friends, neighbors, and strangers. My smile is more genuine, my hands more eager to help, and my mouth slower to criticize. How I need the scriptures!

I truly believe that by delving into the words written by God's holy prophets we can find countless treasures, both for our lives and for those our sphere of influence touches. In this busy and confusing world, the scriptures can give us guidance to sort through the important and the superfluous, the uplifting and the base, the worthwhile and the wasteful. They can provide wisdom on how to live a happier, healthier, more meaningful life, one more focused on God and His kingdom. They can help us to wage a war against Satan and turn our lives, our homes, and our communities into heavenly places, more focused on our Redeemer and his mission.

I desire with all my heart for my children to gain my love of the scriptures. I want them to find all the hidden treasures in their pages and learn to seek them for happiness, guidance, comfort, and peace. I agree wholeheartedly with the prophet Nephi's statement "For my soul delighteth in the scriptures, and my heart pondereth them... for the learning and profit of my children"(2 Nephi 4:15).  This blog is going to be just that. Every day, as I search the pages of the scriptures, I find beautiful thoughts and ideas and stories that I want to share with my children, examples of faith and diligence and sacrifice and love. I come to know my Savior, Jesus Christ, in a very personal way and want them to experience that close relationship too. I am hoping to record some of those thoughts and inspirations that I feel while reading each morning and what I learn as I continue to ponder throughout the day.

"We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children my know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." ~2 Nephi 25:26

I am so excited to have written down all the feelings and thoughts of my heart that I receive through prayerful study of God's scriptures. Feel free to follow along!
